Versatile actor and comedian Kevin James is widely known for playing Doug Heffernan on the hit CBS sitcoms King of Queens and Everybody Loves Raymond.

The King of Queens, which premiered in 1998, ran for nine seasons on CBS with James starring and executive producing. The show, which continues to air daily in syndication across the country and around the world, garnered James an Emmy nomination for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Comedy Series.

James started his stand-up comedy career on the Long Island comedy scene and made the transition to television after being discovered at the Montreal Comedy Festival, where he signed a network development deal to create his own show.

He broke into the film world in 2005 in the box-office hit Hitch starring opposite Will Smith, and he provided voice work for such films as Barnyard and Monster House. His other films includeGrown Ups along with Adam Sandler, Chris Rock, David Spade, and Rob Schneider. Previously James and Sandler worked together on I Now Pronounce You Chuck and Larry. He also produced, co-wrote, and starred as the title character in 2009’s box office hit Paul Blart: Mall Cop.

He starred in his own special for Comedy Central, Sweat the Small Stuff, and paired up with pal Ray Romano to executive produce and star in the HBO Sports Special Making the Cut: The Road to Pebble Beach. The documentary follows James and Romano as they attempt to make the cut at the annual Pebble Beach Pro-Am Golf Tournament. The special was nominated for a Sports Emmy.

James can next be seen in the new Universal Pictures comedy The Dilemma from director Ron Howard and producer Brian Grazer. The film also stars Vince Vaughn, Jennifer Connelly, Winona Ryder, Channing Tatum and Queen Latifah and will hit theaters nationwide in January 2011.

James and Vaughn teamed up again offscreen for a live comedy tour, the Vince Vaughn and Kevin James Comedy Roadshow, featuring live sketch comedy and special guests.
