About

Chris Brown is a Pop-R&B double-platinum and Grammy award-winning artist with a smattering of hit songs including “Run It!,” “Forever,” and “No Air.”

Brown grew up in Virginia, where he fell in love with hip-hop music as a child. Originally focused on MC’ing, Brown soon discovered his singing ability and moved to New York, where he was discovered by his future manager, Def Jam executive Tina Davis. Brown signed with Jive for his self-titled first album, which quickly became a Top Ten hit and produced the number one “Run It!” That year, 2007, Brown was nominated for a Grammy for Best New Artist.

Brown returned with Exclusive, a slightly less wholesome but even more successful album which featured the number one single “Kiss Kiss,” and two other Top Fives. This was followed by “No Air,” a hugely successful duet with Jordin Sparks. That year, Brown also co-wrote “Disturbia” for then-girlfriend Rihanna. In 2009, Brown was charged with the assault of Rihanna, resulting in temporary backlash, but having little effect on his overall career. His third album, Graffiti, was nominated for the Best Contemporary R&B Album Grammy, and “Take My Time” from the album was nominated for Best R&B Performance by a Duo or Group with Vocals.

F.A.M.E., Brown’s fourth album, was released in 2011 and topped the Billboard 200, also garnering Brown a Grammy Win for Best R&B Album. Fortune followed in 2012, another chart-smasher, and X, released in 2014, saw four of its singles hit the R&B top ten. Royalty, Brown’s seventh full album, was also successful.

Throughout the 2010s, Brown was incredibly prolific, producing 45 songs for 2017’s Heartbreak on a Full Moon, which became his eighth consecutive Top Ten album. Brown appeared the following year on Lil Dicky’s hit song, “Freaky Friday,” and in June 2019 put out his ninth solo album, Indigo. Brown performs regularly and can be booked for private parties and corporate entertainment events.
