About

Trace Adkins is a popular American musician known for his new traditionalist country sound, which mixes honky tonk elements with gospel, blues, and rock & roll. He was born in a small-town in Louisiana. He studied music and played football at Louisiana Tech. Adkins worked on an offshore oil rig after graduation, and after severing his finger in an accident, he returned to music with a gospel quartet called the New Commitments.

Adkins began his solo career playing in honkytonks and clubs. After a few years, he tried his luck in Nashville, and was signed almost immediately to Capitol by prominent music producer Scott Hendricks. Adkins’ debut album, Dreamin’ Out Loud (1996), gave him a string of hits and established him as a rising star. His two follow-up albums Big Time (1997), and More (1999) were not as big of commercial hits, but both made the country Top Ten with tracks like “The Rest of Mine,” and “Lonely Won’t Leave Me Alone.” Adkins released Chrome in 2001, which brought him into the Top Five Charts for the first time. He followed up with the successful Comin’ on Strong (2003), and Live in Concert (2007).

After the release of X (Ten) (2008), Adkins left Capitol and joined Toby Keith’s label, Show Dog. His first album with Show Dog, Cowboy’s Back in Town was put out in 2010 and both the album and its singles topped charts. While on an extended tour for the album, Adkins’ home in Tennessee burned down with his family and babysitter in the house — thankfully, no one was hurt. His next album, Proud to Be Here (2011) debuted at number three on Billboard country charts, though only one of its singles made the charts. Love Will… (2013) featured a series of romantic melodies and place 14 on the Billboard Top 200.

Following this, Adkins parted ways with Show Dog and signed with Wheelhouse in 2015. He released the Christmas Album The King’s Gift. He released the single “Lit” in summer 2016 and following it with the successful album Watered Down in 2017. Adkins is booked regularly for private parties and corporate entertainment events, and is seen performing at shows across America.
